How to create a new Label

Before you start

For Methods 2 and 3 you need at least one asset in your project. If you haven’t added files yet, see Uploading files or Files.

Method 1: Create a label from the Labels tab

Use this when you want to create a label first and apply it to assets later. No asset needs to be selected.

1. Open the Labels tab (e.g. in the sidebar or under Knowledge).

2. Click + Create New (or Create new label / New label).

   

3. In the Create a new Label modal:

   • Enter a Name.

   • Choose a color and icon.

   • (Optional) Add a Description.

     

4. Click + Create Label (or Create label).

The new label is saved and appears in your project’s label list. You can then apply it to any asset from the Files page or when managing assets.

Method 2: Create a label from a single asset

Use this when you’re on one asset and want to add a new label (the new label is applied to that asset automatically).

1. Open the Files page (e.g. Files in the sidebar).

2. Find the asset you want to label and click the add label button on or under that asset (or open the label selector for that asset).

3. In the label selector, click + Create a new Label.
   

   

4. In the Create a new Label modal:

   • Enter a Name.

   • Choose a color and icon.

   • (Optional) Add a Description.
     

     

5. Click + Create Label (or Create label).

Method 3: Create a label while managing multiple assets

Use this when you’ve selected several assets and want to create a new label and apply it to all of them in one go.

1. Open the Knowledge panel (e.g. Files in the sidebar).

2. Select one or more assets using the checkbox next to each asset.

3. Click Add or Change Labels (or the label action in the toolbar).

4. In the label selector, click + Create a new Label (or Create new label).
   

   

5. In the Create a new Label modal:

   • Enter a Name.

   • Choose a color and icon.

   • (Optional) Add a Description.
     

     

6. Click + Create Label (or Create label).
