How to use Expert Lens

Expert Lens works from Files, Labels, Concepts, and Collection cards Use it like this:

  1. Find an asset, label, concept, or collection card and click on it to open the side panel

  2. Look for the Expert Lens badge on the card (e.g. “See what N experts would ask about this File” or “…about this Concept”).

  3. Click the badge. The Expert Lens section opens or expands with suggested questions for that item.

  4. Click a suggestion. Storytell navigates to chat and sends that question as your prompt.

Overview

Expert Lens analyzes your documents and content to suggest questions that domain experts would ask. It helps you:

  • Find non-obvious insights — Questions that surface hidden connections, patterns, or root causes.

  • Challenge assumptions — Perspectives that stress-test your reasoning or highlight blind spots.

  • Explore deeper implications — Expert-style questions about risk, best practices, next steps, or strategy.

Expert Lens is available on asset, label, concept, and collection cards—not on knowledge pages. When you click a suggestion, Storytell puts that question in the prompt bar and navigates to chat so you can run it with your current scope and tools.

Expert Lens works alongside your knowledge base, SmartChat, and Prompt Library. You use it to discover strong questions; then you run them in chat with the collections and files that power that chat.

How Expert Lens works

When suggestions are loaded for your project:

  1. Storytell analyzes your content — The asset, label, concept, or collection represented by the card.

  2. It identifies relevant expert personas — For example, Financial Analyst, Security Engineer, Product Manager.

  3. It generates thought-provoking questions — Each suggestion has a question text and, when available, a persona and category.

  4. It categorizes suggestions — Categories include Discovery & Insight, Critical Thinking, Expertise & Depth, Action & Decision, and others.

Suggestions are fetched per project and filtered for each item (e.g. one file, one concept, one label, or a collection). The Expert Lens badge appears on a card when there are suggestions for that item (or while they’re loading).
